shutupandrun:

I discovered a tech company that I’m obsessed with and they make the BEST HEADPHONES FOR RUNNERS. Period. Full stop. Tags by Outdoor Tech are amazing.

I met the guys at OUTDOOR TECH at Agenda NYC. Good vibes from the jump. They are funny as shit and they put stuff like the “reasons not to job” photo above on their Facebook page.

They sent me headphones. And I love them. Hard.

Stuff you probably want” is their tagline. Affirmative. This is the tech gear company we’ve been waiting for - solid products for endurance junkies, swagger, and doesn’t take itself too seriously

THE GEAR 4-1-1:

Tags aka a Runner’s Dream Headphones: These wireless headphones pair easily with your Blue Tooth device (my iPhone). The fine folks at Outdoor Tech sent me a pair and the sound is amazing. No more tangle with your dookie chain! And change tracks, volume, and talk on the phone wirelessly from your ear phones.

Privates: Rugged Wireless headphones with external controls and a track pad on the side of the ear piece. “Touch your privates in public.” Oh, snap.

Buckshot: I want to run and bike with this! This teeny, rubberized, water-resistant speaker with a built in microphone and speaker-phone means tunes and calls on the run.

Turtle Shell: The buckshot’s big brother, this speaker has a bike mount and looks like a little turtle with bass. Dust-proof, built in mic, and wireless range of 32 feet. Yes, to all of that.

So these products are the shit, but more importantly I LIKE these guys. The catalogue was even funny to read.

Outdoor Tech, I’m converted. Maybe you can sponsor me in ultramarathons and stuff? (kidding. not really)

Awesome run down on all the cool stuff we got going on over at BigSmokeCollective!

Innovative Dutch Aquaponics Setup Creates a Mini Ecosystem With Bamboo, Ropes and Old Water Bottles

Mediamatics introduced an aquaponic installation consisting of little more than a PET bottle, rope and some bamboo. Aquaponics is a sustainable food production system that combines the cultivation of fish and vegetables. It is a closed vertical system that utilizes natural bacteria cycles to convert fish waste into vegetable nutrients. Suitable for offices, for living rooms and for the narrow balconies, miniponic installations are likely to be the best way to produce food in the city. Unlike traditional agriculture, miniponics wastes no water, doesn’t need any fertilizer and its vertical design takes up very little space.

From Wikipedia:

"Aquaponics, is a food production system that combines conventional aquaculture, (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks), with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. In normal aquaculture, excretions from the animals being raised can accumulate in the water, increasing toxicity. In an aquaponic system, water from an aquaculture system is fed to a hydroponic system where the by-products are broken down by nitrogen-fixing bacteria into nitrates and nitrites, which are utilized by the plants as nutrients. The water is then recirculated back to the aquaculture system." - Wikipedia
